Everything!

As I did my little girl's hair this morning, I told her, "I'm glad I'm your mom".

She then went on to tell me the following:

"Well Mom, kids do everything. We do the dishes, we do our music, we make beds. Everything."

This is one of those outfits my girls will look back on with nostalgia. She wears this just about every day. She's worn it four of the past five. Yes, it is dirty. I need to sneak it into the wash. Oh, yes -- I do the laundry, that is something I do.

  1. That's really funny coming from a little one. It is totally right in a kid's mind, too!
Our nephew (a teenager) used to tell me basically the same thing. "You don't do anything for me." Not as cute. I usually said something like, "Okay. We'll chat again after you move out and have that rude awakening called REALITY smack you in the face!"

Jacob has been telling me lately that he really wants to go to school, because he isn't learning anything at home. Yep. Zilch going on at home in the learning department, that's us. I am glad he's excited for school, though!

  2. It sounds like your kids are totally overworked! When my kids complain about doing too much work I tell them that the reason I had kids was to get them to do my work for me. (because you know, it's WAY easier to make a 7 year old clean the toilet than to do it myself) OK, so I have a maid and there is not much toilet cleaning going on right now, but reality will be coming here in a few months.
