Cutting Something

Beware of boys (8 yo) who are looking around the bedroom saying, "I just want to cut something."

Yikes! My son got a really cool pocket knife last summer at Yellowstone last summer. We've kept it out of reach for quite some time, but recently allowed him to keep it in his bedroom, top drawer, left corner with the explicit instruction  that he was not to get out the knife without our supervision.
That's my little gem showing off his Yellowstone hand signals, he was a hoot

Well, today he came running in to me asking if he could show his friend the knife. Then, he told me he already told his friend where it was.

Our (the parents) plan backfired. It just doesn't do any good to keep something hidden if the place is exploited. Back to the old hiding place.

I did let the boys see how cool the knife was and that was when the friend started looking around my son's room and said, "I just want to cut something."

Not good.

We need some summer pictures to remind us of how hot it can get in other states. This was my family in Yellowstone.

  1. let the child (yours) cut something. Give him a bar of ivory soap and tell him carve away (outside of course).
Or soft wood. Or a branch from your forest. FUN!
